One of the biggest questions I hear from local families is, “What should we wear for our photos?” Good news — coordinating outfits for your Fairfield County family session doesn’t have to be stressful!
Here are 3 easy tips to make sure your outfits look perfect together and feel true to your family’s style:
Start with Mom’s Outfit
Mom’s look sets the tone. Pick something that makes you feel beautiful and comfortable — a flowy dress, a cozy sweater dress, or a piece from my curated client closet. Then build everyone else’s outfits around it.
Stick to Neutrals and Soft Colors
Soft creams, sage, dusty blue, tan, and muted tones look timeless. They photograph beautifully in studios and in outdoor spots across Fairfield County and Westchester County. Avoid bright neon or big logos — natural textures and subtle patterns keep the focus on your family.
Coordinate, Don’t Match
No need for matching outfits. Mix shades and textures so everyone coordinates without looking identical. Lay everything out ahead of time and snap a quick photo to double-check how it all ties together.

Outfit Checklist:
- Start with mom
- Choose 2–3 coordinating colors
- Mix textures & patterns subtly
- Avoid logos & neon
- Lay it all out ahead of time
P.S. — Don’t forget shoes, socks, layers, and accessories that suit the season. These finishing touches make a big difference!
